Intro to Pet Advice:
We are super hyped about Articles 101! This is our first blog! Welcome to Articles 101 Pet Advice, a team of bloggers and writers providing free information for you. In our blogs, we will be giving you all sorts of information, from what treats are good, to crate-training, to frequently asked questions about crazy problems. We'll be writing about cats, dogs, parrots, puppies, kittens, adopting, and much more. This blog is for if you're really unsure about how to manage a puppy you just adopted or bought. Here are some things you need to know about having and managing a puppy.
1. NEVER let your dog eat poop.
Poop can cause your dog to get harmful bacteria in its system. It can cause dreadful diarrhea and stomach pains as well. Deer poop, which is a very common one is considered guilty, as well as goose and bird poop. Results can later come out as gastrointestinal issues, which requires special expensive food. (Known as GI)
2. Keep your dog as far away from your bedroom as possible.
WARNING! Puppies can be loud at night and in the early morning. We recommend you put your puppy in a cool (not TOO cold) place with nothing to chew up or rip meant for your dog. Keep the door to that room closed, too. Make sure your beloved puppy has treats, food, water, and toys. You should also have multiple pee pads spread out across the room and a crate and/or bed for it. Blankets, soft pads, cushions, pillows, and extra beds are also encouraged.
3. Take your dog for at least two walks/runs around the block a day.
Dogs need exercise. Their health counts just as much as humans' health counts. Especially when they are a puppy, they need AT LEAST two walks/runs around the block everyday. Dogs will go CRAZY and will be very active and naughty when they don't have enough exercise, or want to play.
4. Socialize your puppy.
Socialize your puppy. They love to play with other dogs and puppies and it burns some of their calories off too. They make friends with other dogs and eventually get used to them. Not socializing them when they are young can lead to problems and aggressiveness against humans and other dogs. They will bite, including small dogs.
5. Make sure your puppy gets all of the major shots.
Make sure your puppy gets all of the MAJOR shots. Some viruses are very common and can easily spread to your puppy, like rabies. Consequences are major and expensive and can even lead to the fate of your dog. Do not socialize your puppy until he/she gets all of his/her shots. Please get ALL of the major shots.
6. Microchips and name/info collars are very necessary.
Microchips and name/info collars and tags are extremely necessary. In case your dog gets lost and you can't find it, it's a 96.7 chance that someone will find it if it has a name tag and collar. If your dog is found, the person will know who the owner is and the name of the dog, and will also know that it is an owned dog. Microchips in dogs will let you track your dog.
