The Untitled Document: A Short Story
The Untitled Document
A Short Story
Dad was at work that day. His boss gave him a file with “Top Secret” stamped on the top. He felt proud to be worthy of carrying this document and put it in his safe. He out the document carefully in his briefcase. Dad came home from work late today. He didn’t look happy. He looked disappointed.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“There’s a very important document missing,” he said with a sad face.
“Why don’t you just search the name on the computer?” I asked. “Then it would pop up.”
“The problem is, it’s an untitled document. The computer won’t recognize it.”
“Oh,” I said in a dry voice.
Mom walked in. “What’s going on? Are you having a relationship?
“Dad? What’s that white thing in your briefcase?” I asked.
Dad took it out.
“Oh!” Dad said, clearly embarrassed. “It was in there all along?”
“You should probably give it a name,” I said.
“You’re right. Anyway, I gotta go bye.”
He hurried off.
